Looking for Someone to Blame

It's hard to have a
conversation when
we never really talk,
not for two years now.

It's hard to have a
conversation when
all we talk about
is the things we
have in common.

It's hard to have a
conversation when
we're a thousand
miles apart and neither
makes the trip between.

It's hard to have a
conversation when
we sort of knew and
never said and now
can't avoid the obvious.

It's hard to have a
conversation when
we have fights without
saying what we really
mean, because it's
impossible.

It's hard to have a
conversation when
we've never said
the things we ought
to have, and now
only long for each
other like starcrossed
lovers,

afraid that we're doomed.
